Baptized in Bias

“Baptized in Bias” by Mikayla Southwell

I’ve been to church
And prayed my sins away
I’ve asked for forgiveness
And condemned those led astray

I’ve preached God’s love
And judged my neighbor
I’ve twisted his word
To work in my favor

I’ve met terrible people
And ignored all their flaws
Because they’ve shown interest
In making Christian laws

Separation is a myth
About church and state
But of course it’s acceptable
If it’s between you and the people you hate

No, I’m not a bigot
I practice what I preach
Hatred and injustice
And inequality far as I can reach

We are the truth.
So unless you want to go to hell and rot,
I invite you to come as you are
But command you to leave as you’re not.
